Description

Strength of Materials II is a theoretical-practical course. Its purpose is to develop in the student the ability to analyze and understand the behavior of an element of a structural system subjected to different conditions and types of loads. Its results contribute to the development of skills to identify, formulate and solve complex engineering problems applying principles of engineering, science and mathematics.

Throughout the course, the following thematic axes are developed: sections of various materials, materials that do not resist traction, combined internal forces, deformation energy in elements, resistance failure theories, thin-walled sections, stability of structural elements, plastic behaviour, failure criteria, column buckling, introduction to structural analysis.
