He is a researcher at the Institute of Scientific Research of the University of Lima, specializing in the role of natural resources in development, specifically fishing and mining.

His publications are based on the analysis of the input-product tables of Peru, as well as the world economy and the statistics of the Harmonized System of international trade, at the product level.

It also combines economic analysis tools with network theory tools.

Recent work focuses on the evaluation of countries with abundant natural resources in South East Asia and Latin America.
