Description
Multiple studies point out the disparities between the empirical data on crime, the perception of insecurity and the difficulty in measuring the impact of crime on the daily lives of citizens. In all these aspects, language as a performative act plays a preponderant role in ordering the world broken by real or imaginary crime. The present study poses as a research problem the role of language in the narration of experiences of violence at various scales and the emergence of a new form of citizenship based on fear. At a specific level, it proposes as an objective the identification of discursive features in the insecurity narrative, the types of knowledge that are reproduced and the categorization of security-normative practices. The methodological strategy opts for a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews at the NSE C in Lima (Los Olivos, Independencia and San Martín de Porres).
