Description

An advanced water treatment unit that uses solar energy is an advantageous solution for remote areas with high solar irradiation, which includes mining towns, operations and liabilities. This unit must be autonomous, which implies the automated control of the sequence of water purification processes and the independence of the electricity grid. Therefore, the design and construction of an autonomous and compact water treatment unit is proposed, which, using electrochemically generated ferrate ions integrated into a system, dose the ions based on water needs, adjust the pH, remove contaminants and produce water whose quality can be adjusted to the need to be solved: generation of drinking water or wastewater treatment.
