Design and implementation of an automatic control system based on motors and sensors to maintain the position of a horizontal platform

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

The loss of mobility and autonomy due to a disability generates a deterioration of cognitive functions. The impact on the quality of life of a person with a disability is undoubted when they do not have adequate motor stimulation, due to disconnection with the environment. According to the INEI in its latest report on disability, in Peru 88% of people who suffer from some type of disability do not receive any treatment or rehabilitation therapy. Additionally, the INEI mentions that of people with disabilities, 92% have difficulty walking outside their home, be they short or long distances. The figures show the importance of seeking to attend the motor stimulation of this important segment of the population. In this project, a mechanism that uses servo motors and signal feedback will be designed to control the stability of a device that seeks to maintain the position of a horizontal platform. The mechanism will optimize response time and minimize overshoot. This will be done by analyzing the transient response to changes in position.
