Peruvian independent cinema 2000-2018

This research seeks to establish the narrative and stylistic characteristics of Peruvian independent cinema, determine its modes of production, distribution and exhibition, its contributions to national cinema, its potentialities and the main problems it faces for its continuity. The work starts from the fact that this type of cinema raises non-classical narrative and stylistic proposals; It is carried out with a low budget and is displayed outside the commercial system of the multi-rooms. This cinema, mostly self-managed, has increased its production in recent years to have half a hundred lengths, some of them winners of national and international awards. It should be noted that the national realization area includes not only the capital of the country but also departments such as Arequipa, Cusco, La Libertad and Lambayeque.
