Description

Although it is thought that the increase in living standards could increase people's satisfaction, there is no direct relationship between them. One of the psychological reasons that would explain this phenomenon is that happiness from a particular success decreases over time due to hedonic adaptation. The present study aims to explore whether physiological and cognitive responses (cardiac variability, emotional regulation, among others) correlate with hedonic adaptation. For this, a longitudinal study will be carried out with 250 university students from Lima. In addition, the mediating effect of the amount of positive emotions in hedonic adaptation will be replicated and extended to its negative side in an experimental design.
