In the wake of the celebration of the Bicentennial of Independence in the countries of the region, this research studies the units of History in school texts that address Hispanic American independence. Some questions that the study intends to answer are: What story of the Independence of Peru and Chile do school manuals disseminate when they commemorate their Bicentennial? In general terms, do school stories about independence, in Peru and Chile, contribute to promoting integration between the two countries, as well as fostering a culture of peace? For this, the essential manuals published by the main publishing houses and most used in public and private schools in both countries will be analyzed.
