Narratives of the conflict in the Peruvian press. Epistemic approach and emblematic cases

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

This research analyzes the narratives of socio-environmental conflicts in the Lima press from an epistemic perspective. First, a quantitative analysis is made of the journalistic coverage of the conflicts that erupted in the last decade, their main actors and the networks that they managed to consolidate. Then the themes and actors that participate in the storytelling process are qualitatively identified, from an epistemological perspective, as well as their focus, framing or framing. Finally, some components of the production of the political story, a communicational and narrative tool that the actors use to manage their message in a meaningful and coherent way, are recognized.
It should be noted that this analysis is added to other research carried out at the IDIC ("Impact of the news on Peruvian socio-environmental conflicts in YouTube digital communities", 2020) related to socio-environmental conflicts and their mediatization. Therefore, the possibility of reaching comparative conclusions with these approaches is not ruled out.
