Project Details
Description
This project is a pilot study that aims to apply the new methodology to the town of Mirave, district of Ilabaya, in Tacna, which was strongly affected by the huayco in March 2015. First, it will conduct a topographic survey of the area and soil samples will be extracted to assess their characteristics. The soil tests will take place in the laboratory of the University of Lima. Detritic flow modeling software Flow-2D or similar will be used to perform simulations in various scenarios. With this information we will proceed to the modeling of the flow, considering the digital terrain model, its morphology and the characteristics of the soil. General mitigation measures will be proposed by risk categories of delimited regions, and a safety plan in case of rains, where alert levels will be established based on the amount of rainfall recorded by a rain gauge installed in the locality. The project aims to lay the foundations for a regulation of good practices of detritic flow resistant infrastructure design, which allows to reduce the large losses produced by these events.
