Real-time measurement of electrical impedance for the detection of water stress in spinach crops

Project: Research

Project Details

In this project, a real-time prototype for measuring water stress will be developed using direct measurement techniques of the electrical impedance spectrum in spinach leaves. Said impedance spectrum will be measured by custom-made equipment capable of measuring the resistive and reactive component in leaves and stems, from which the relevant electrical parameters that are correlated with the hydration level of the plant will be deduced. Measurements will be made at different stages of the crop.
The impedance measurements will be correlated with the temperature of the leaves, which will be obtained from a temperature sensor placed on the plant.
