Abstract

Storytelling is a way to convey events using words, images and sounds, often by improvisation. Stories or narratives have been shared in all cultures as a mean to entertain, educate, for cultural preservation and as a way to transmit moral values. This paper presents a solution for interactive storytelling, targeted to children and juvenile public, called Mogre-Storytelling. This tool aims to be intuitive, providing different functionalities for the creation and customization of 3D scenarios, allowing the addition of 3D models from the Internet and even to enable the creation of virtual stories using multimedia elements such as speech bubbles, sounds and images. Mogre-Storytelling is a straightforward solution for young users who want to create stories with 3D scenarios and is also an alternative to Mogre/Ogre application developers, since this tool enables the rapid creation of customized scenarios and 3D graphics with a higher quality, and further exporting the created scenarios to other compatible tool. A case study was also carried out testing the utilization of Mogre-storytelling with 14 children and the results of the analysis arc discussed in this paper.
