Abstract

Small- and medium-sized companies within the textile sector face serious problems in their production flows, mostly because of the absence of standardized production systems and adequate resource planning. Therefore, a diagnostic analysis is conducted on an SME textile company to evaluate and define the deficiencies and factors affecting their productivity. Thus, in this study, we develop a model that contributes to waste elimination in the production flow, improves resource planning, and provides improved working conditions. The proposed model is developed by applying lean manufacturing tools and a material supply planning system through a continuous improvement approach based on the Kaizen philosophy.
