Abstract
This article analyzes the treatment given to the concept of citizenship in 15 Peruvian cybermedia and the use that Internet users make of it based on the information published to find out the semantic coincidences and differences in the media and public agendas. The research uses a mixed method combining classic news content analysis, computer-mediated analysis of user comments, and the interview. Among other findings - validated with journalists from the media - stands out the little attention that the platforms give to being a citizen and the divorce of the approaches of the issuers and their users. Likewise, the work proposes some solutions to this misunderstanding in a field of undoubted public interest that affects public debate and the construction of citizens aware of their role in society.
