Abstract

This work deals about the psychometric adaptation of the reading comprehension test, named “Evaluación de la Comprensión Lectora ACL-1A” of G. Catalá, M. Catalá, E. Molina and R. Monclús. The participants were 685 first grade primary students of public and private schools of Metropolitan Lima. Reliability was studied using Cronbach's alpha method, obtaining an internal consistency coefficient of .81 indicating that the test is reliable. To study the validity, the confirmatory factorial analysis was carried out, finding that the test consists of a single factor. Statistically significant differences were found among the level of reading comprehension of first grade of primary students, showing the participants of private educational institutions a higher level of comprehension that their peers from public institutions. No significant differences were found in reading comprehension when considering sex as a variable.
