Abstract

The objective was to evaluate the psychometric properties and multicultural invariance of the Academic Stressors Scale in Peruvian and Ecuadorian university students and to determine the differences in academic stress levels according to sex. A total of 1624 students between 18 and 40 years of age participated in this study. The results show that the oblique model with 24 items corroborates the factorial structure with appropriate estimates. It also allows the description of the model's invariance at each stage - configurational, metrical, strong, and strict - of the study sample. As for the levels of academic stress according to sex, it is corroborated that there is a significant difference with a mean of greater magnitude for females compared to males. It is evident that the 24-item oblique model is invariant with respect to multiculturalism and that, in turn, it is reliable.
