Abstract

This manual explains the effect of conventional fuel mixtures with a higher concentration of biofuel in internal combustion engines, which is recommended to be applied in the automotive fleet of our country. The operating parameters of an internal combustion engine were experimentally measured using an eddy current brake and auxiliary equipment, including a thermodynamic engine operation control scanner. Tests were carried out with gasoline-fuel alcohol mixtures in an Otto cycle engine and diesel oil-biodiesel mixtures in a Diesel cycle engine. The results of the measurement of the parameters were analyzed and it was determined that a higher percentage of biofuel in the mixtures does not generate a significant change in the parameters of the internal combustion engine. The text includes the fundamentals of fuels and biofuels, their properties, the technology of engines with alternative and conventional fuels; as well as its performance, its energy security and tests in a bench of gasoline and oil engines.
