Abstract
Natural gas is considered the fuel of the 21st century, as it is the cleanest
among fossil fuels, because they are competitively priced and easy to supply. For many, the natural gas from Camisea constitutes the opportunity to boost the economic and social development of Peru. However, so far there is no clear policy on their fate. The formulation of an inappropriate policy could result in the waste and depletion of this valuable resource without having contributed to achieving the goals of national development. This article presents a systemic view of the complex natural gas value network in the form of a causal diagram, resulting from the analysis of the energy, economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development. Once this model is implemented with a software tool, it can be used to analyze the impact that different policies on natural gas would have on the country's development
