Purification of Papain from Dried Latex: A Pilot Study

Abstract

A process for extraction and purification of papain (Papaya proteinase I) from dried latex using activity protective agents is described. Processes like extraction, selective precipitation, desalting, concentrating and lyophilization are detailed. The final product purity is on par with other preparations commercially available.
