Resumen
Access to public information represents a fundamental tool for investigative journalism in contexts of political crisis, as evidenced by the case of Pedro Castillo's government in Peru (2021–2022). This article analyzes the use of access to public information as a means to strengthen transparency in investigative journalism in Peru, particularly during political crises. Based on a qualitative approach, it explores the experiences and challenges faced by journalists when integrating data obtained through information requests into their investigations. The findings highlight significant limitations, such as bureaucratic barriers, distrust in institutions, and governmental restrictions. Furthermore, it discusses how journalism acts as a watchdog for accountability by exposing cases of corruption and utilizing public information as a key resource to enrich reports. This work contributes to the debate on the effective implementation of transparency laws and their impact on the democratization of information, proposing practical improvements to enhance the use of these tools in the journalistic field.
