Resumen

The synthesis, characterization and biological assays of two new rhodium carboxylates carbohydrate derivatives, rhodium gluconate Rh 2(Gli) 4 and lactobionate Rh 2(Lab) 4 are herein described. These compounds showed good water solubility and low toxicity for female mice in dosis higher than 200 mg/kg. The cytostatic activity was carried out in vitro against K-562 cells and compared with other hydroxyl carboxylate, the rhodium lactate Rh 2(Lac) 4, which was recently described and synthesized in our laboratory by an alternative route. The derivatives showed low in vitro activity but due to the low toxicity they can be considered as promising carboxylate carriers of antineoplasic drugs that can form adducts in the axial positions.
