Digital art and the aesthetics of complexity: analysis of three art projects from the Artware Biennial

Beyond being an effective means of communication, art is above all an expression of resistance. This
characteristic of art constitutes today a fundamental element for rethinking and critically examining
digital technology and the advances of artificial intelligence (AI).
This research adopts an interdisciplinary approach drawing from aesthetics, complexity studies
and computer science to investigate the primary processes of technological colonization in the fields
of communication and art. Furthermore, it analyses alternative artistic and communicative proposals
within these domains. As a case study, it explores the foundational artistic projects by Artware and
the International Digital Art Biennial, held in Lima.
