Do cholo para chamo: Um estudo sobre a discriminação racial em Gamarra (Lima, Peru)

This paper discusses the issue of racism in the interaction between individuals in a neighborhood of Lima, Peru. We examine the transformation of social roles that the individuals elaborate and assume for themselves through the economic thematic isotopy. To accomplish this work, ethnographic research was performed in the Gamarra neighborhood, and we used Greimasian semiotics, socio-semiotics, and tensive semiotics as theoretical framework to examine the constitution and transformation of social meanings that base racial discrimina-tion between different social groups in the examined space.
