Resumen
© FUOC, 2018. Postmodern philosophy, science and technology offer new options for art research. However, aesthetic problems that still go unsolved jeopardize these possibilities, as well as the meaning of art as autonomous discipline. In this article, we will analyze theoretical and methodological problems in various artistic research contexts. Through Eco and Wagensberg, as well as Sokal and Bricmont’s concept of intellectual imposture, we will especially focus on the artists who attempt to develop original knowledge as artists. Parts of Lakatos’ philosophy of science will help to respond to such criticism and find concrete options for artistic research. This requires a solution to aesthetic problems, artistic training reform, and updating the artist’s technological skills.
