Resumen

The platinum(II) bis-chelate complexes of the type [Pt(TSC1-7)2] (8-14) with their corresponding ligands derived from furan-2-carbaldehyde thiosemicarbazone were synthesized, and characterized by ESI-mass, FT-IR and NMR (1H, 13C) spectroscopy. The ligands deprotonated at the NH group are coordinated to PtII ions through the nitrogen and sulphur atoms. According to in vitro cytotoxic evaluation, the platinum(II) complexes (IC50 = <1.61-9.71 μM) exhibited higher antiproliferative activity, than their free ligands (IC50 = 13.36- >372.34 μM), against different types of human tumor cell lines. Among all the studied platinum(II) complexes, Pt(TSC4)2 (11) and Pt(TSC7)2 (14) exhibited high antitumor activity on the HuTu80 duodenum adenocarcinoma cells, with low values of the inhibitory concentration (<1.61 and 3.49 μM, respectively).
